When to go

Summer in the country is too short and there is even a joke that the summer comes in Tuesday and ends in Thursday. July is the warmest month and the temperature during this time will be around 15°C.

The temperature in January and February are unbearable and it can be compared to that of New England. For a foreigner, the ideal time to visit the country is from June to August since the temperature is quite the same as that of other countries in Europe. It is to be noted that at anytime when you decide to go to the country make sure that you have taken enough materials to counter extreme cold. In fact, snow is one of the characteristic features of the country. The country is ideal for winter sports and it is great fun to travel through the country at any time of the year.

Getting there and around

You will get flights to Helsinki from other parts of Europe, and while in the country, you will find the country to be less congested. All the places are well connected by road and there are train services to major cities. A travel by road to the Lake District will show you why the country is known as “land of thousand lakes”. Helsinki, Lapland and Lake District can be easily accessed either by air, rail, or road.
